Mendip’s Walking for Health programmes have recently secured the backing of social enterprise and charitable Leisure Trust, Tone.
Regular health walks, which are free of charge and led by volunteers, have been running for some time in Frome, Street and Glastonbury, but since July this year, Tone will provide a scheme co-ordinator to support and promote the schemes, and set-up new walks in areas of Mendip where there are currently none available.

Leisure trust and social enterprise Tone hosted a game of football with an unusual twist recently – there was no such thing as the subs’ bench as all the players were seated and ‘hand ball’ was allowed!

This year, World Heart Day falls on Thursday 29th September and Ivybridge Leisure Centre is throwing down a challenge.
It is estimated that the heart will pump blood around the body a distance of 790km in one hour. This is approximately the same distance as Berwick-on-Tweed is (the most northern town in England) from Ivybridge.

Social enterprise and leisure trust Tone Leisure has been appointed to deliver a new Active Villages programme in North Devon, following successful operation of the scheme in two other Devon areas.
Tone secured £11,000 worth of funding to deliver the scheme’s pilot phase as well as phases one and two, across 11 North Devon villages starting in September 2011. The trust already delivers Active Villages programmes in the South Hams area of the county, as well as Mid Devon.

On Saturday 10th September from 10.30am - 2pm, Quayside is throwing open its doors to offer a range of children's activities to sample - all their regular and new kids activities are available to sample in one session for just £2.00 per child.
