Tone has recently received a personalised report on the MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it) programme we’ve been running in Somerset for the past three years.
The family-focused treatment and prevention programme is for children aged between seven and 13 who are over a healthy weight and aims to educate and motivate the children and their families on issues such as exercise and nutrition to help tackle the growing problem of childhood obesity. With Swimathon 2011 just around the corner, social enterprise Tone’s Taunton Poolis encouraging people in Taunton Deane and the surrounding areas to take part in their sessions on the 8th to the 10th of April. Peter Bretherton, recently elected president of the Lawn Tennis Association is travelling to Somerset on Wednesday 9th March to meet with Taunton Tennis Club’s Head Coach Simon Woodhill. The visit will allow Mr Bretherton to tour the facilities as well as watch the best U10’s in the South West play tennis.

Wright Night Runner
Debbie Miller Wright, Boxercise Instructor for Tone at their Totnes Pavilion site is taking on a massive challenge in support of Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Help for Heroes.
On the weekend of May 28th & 29th Debbie plus four other runners and a support team will be running from Exmouth to Plymouth on the SW Coastal path in one continuous effort, including running through the night.

Tone’s Wellsprings Leisure Centre will play host to two hugely significant Trampoline Internationals in 2011; opening with a 4 Nation event against Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark and Portugal in May, and following up with a Youth Match against Germany in September.
Both events will see emerging trampoline talent from all over Europe with many of the British members looking to develop into World Class senior performers with ambitions for 2012 Olympics Games and beyond.

A new initiative launching at Wellington Sports Centre, one of the Taunton facilities managed by social enterprise Tone, is bringing Dance in its many forms to the centre.

Leisure trust and social enterprise Tone has revealed that clients of its unique Feel Good Factory have lost a combined 2,500 inches in a 10-month period since it opened – that’s the equivalent of around seven and a half London Routemaster buses lined up end to end!

Following on from the success of its first Feel Good Factory, leisure trust and social enterprise Tone has announced the commencement of work on a second model at one of its Devon centres.

Results from a family-focused treatment and prevention programme for children who are over a healthy weight indicate the effectiveness of the initiative as a key tool to tackle the growing problem of childhood obesity, claims charitable trust Tone Leisure.
