St James Street operating as normal during Torch Relay

Olympic Torch relay Monday 21st May
Taunton will be welcoming the London 2012 Olympic Torch relay on Monday 21 May 2012 and to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime event Taunton Deane Borough Council is planning a day of celebrations in the town centre.

This will mean a number of roads will be closed in the centre of Taunton from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and diversions put in place.

A one way ...system will operate around Middle Street, Lower Middle Street and St James Street from 6:00 pm on Sunday 20 May 2012 until 10:00 am on Tuesday 22 May 2012. The North Street end of St James Street will be closed and access only will be provided through Priory Avenue, Canon Street, Middle Street and St James Street.

Car Parking will also be affected. From 6pm on Sunday 20th May The Coal Orchard Car Park will be closed until 10am on Tuesday 22nd May. Morrison’s Supermarket Car Park will also have limited parking available and may have access across the foot bridge restricted. As the torch relay ends at the Somerset County Cricket Ground parking will also not be available there.

The nearest parking available is in Canon Street Car Park.

St James Street will be operating as normal throughout so there will be no changes to any of our sessions.
