What a Glorious Day at Dartmouth Sport Relief!

Wednesday, 18 April 2012

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile held at Tone’s Dartmouth Leisure Centre on Sunday 25th March saw over 120 local people to come together and take part in the 1, 3 and 6 mile challenges.

At 10:00 the event started with a Zumba® Olympics session run by Sophie Carr, Zumba Instructor, which was enormous fun and a great warm-up for the event itself. The session was free of charge with donations going to Sport Relief. Ian Coates (pictures with fitness instructor Sophie Carr) raised £370.00 in sponsorship for doing the class.

35 people attended the Zumba® Olympics, while the children enjoyed their own Bouncy Fun session.

11:00 saw the start of the first wave of 1 miles, followed ten minutes later by the second. 11:30 had Richard Darch, centre manager for Tone, seeing off the first wave of the 3 and 6 miles, with the second wave leaving 15 minutes later. In total (excluding individual sponsorships) £242 was raised on the day through sign up fees and donations.

Richard Darch, centre manager said: “I’d like to thank the staff that donated their time to support this event. It was a great day, in glorious sunshine, with something for all the family. We now have a worthy target to try and exceed the next time the event is held.”
