Hiya I'm Mel and I'm the Health Development Manager. I joined Tone Leisure in 2002 as a Fitness Manager but had decided whilst studying for an Exercise and Sports Science degree at Exeter University that I wanted to help people with health problems to reap the benefits of exercise.
In 2004 I took up the post of Health & Development Manager with a remit to improve accessibility to exercise for particular groups such as the elderly, young and those with physical or mental health problems.
I am responsible for developing the walking, GP referral and cardiac rehabilitation. Working in partnership with the local Primary Care Trust Tone Leisure delivers programmes of exercise, education and physio to with the ultimate aim to engage these groups to exercise in a more communal environment.
Tone Leisure are true to their mission of More People, More Active, More Often and care that the customer achieves their goal whether that be health, happiness or performance and trust employees to deliver whilst providing clear targets for performance.
Tone is much more than just a logo, it is glued together by the great people who work here ensuring that the customer feels special and that they are much more than just a number.
