Hi I'm Duncan and I joined Tone Leisure back in 2001 and so have seen how things have grown and developed. I have worked as a Fitness Instructor and also take classes including Circuits, Body Balance and and Body Combat. All in all Tone Leisure has been integral to my development in a way I'm certain I would not have received working elsewhere within the industry.
My job allows me the opportunity to have a direct impact on people and what they want to achieve. Two ladies who started training in our gyms for example I have helped in training up to compete in triathlons and whilst we sometimes work long hours and weekends I enjoy the teaching classes so much that it's almost like going out. If I were to say that there was a family feel to the place you wouldnt be surprised to hear that my mum is one of my keenest customers!
The organisation also encourages innovation so if you have a good idea you can make it happen. We recently piloted a customer update referral at Wellington which has been adopted by other sites. We are getting much better at knowledge sharing across sites.
I am confident that management is listening and the implementation of 10-minute gym enables us to develop more meaningful relationships with customers which in turn means they value out time. Good for job satisfaction.
I have recently progressed to Acting Health & Fitness Supervisor which is brilliant for my development and my involvement in decision-making within the organisation.
