Community
Tone are one of the few leisure trusts who deliver sports and health development initiatives as part of their portfolio of services. We have been running these services since 1986 (initially as part of a Direct Services Organisation). We work closely with local NHS and primary care teams in a range of programmes delivered through our Community Development Team comprising of a Health Development Officer, Play Development Officer, Sports Development Officer and Active Lifestyles Officer. Programmes include MEND (children and family obesity management programme), falls prevention, GP Referrals, cardiac rehabilitation, elderly care home programmes (Flexercise), parent respite and children's inclusion services, health walks and Active Villages.
Projects
Tone actively encourage and promote participation in hard to reach groups through community sports and health development outreach programmes.
We have many successful development initiatives, including
- "Vibe" Youth Night programmes - providing productive activities for young people aged 13 to 19, ranging from Parcour, DJ workshops, climbing and team sports to health and fitness sessions;
- holiday inclusion programme - providing one-to-one support for children with individual needs during holiday periods and respite for parents
- health walks initiatives;
- falls prevention programmes;
- cardiac rehabilitation;
- GP Referral programmes;
- "Access to Leisure" means tested low income pricing for all activities and programmes;
- "Sports Street" - free activities for a specific street in deprived wards for a month, which changes each month;
- Active Villages - facilitating rural villages activity programmes;
- mental health programmes;
- learning difficulty programmes;
- drug and alcohol rehabilitation activity sessions; and
- "Flexercise" elderly care home activities - training care work teams to deliver safe and appropriate activity exercise programmes to residents.
Some of these programmes are facility based and others are taken out into the local community. Tone are very keen to explore the delivery of such programmes and initiatives with Councils in the South West of England.
