Tone Leisure’s, St James Street Swimming Pool has been running the RLSS’s Rookie Lifeguard programme since March 2009 and has gone from strength to strength. The Rookie programme is designed to give children essential water safety and lifesaving skills.
In the UK drowning is the third most common cause of accidental death among youngsters under the age of 16, with at least 60 children losing their lives every year.

Tone Leisure’s Ivybridge Leisure Centre runs Aqua Natal classes suitable for expectant Mums
from 12 weeks plus, and Mums that are, from 6 weeks post natal with qualified retired midwife, Liz Rider.
The classes have proved very popular and comments from participants have been extremely supportive:

Following the runaway success of their October event where South Hams Indoor Bowls Club at Tone Leisure’s Quayside Leisure Centre held open house during half term to encourage young people to try their hand at the game of indoor bowls, the club is repeating the opportunity during February Half term.

South Hams Indoor Bowls Club at Tone Leisure’s Quayside Leisure Centre is repeating its free adult taster sessions on Tuesdays between 9.00 and 11.00am following the success of the scheme last October/ November.
Suitable for all ages and abilities (wheelchair users are also welcome) all equipment will be provided free of charge and free tea/ coffee will be available to restore all that used energy, after the session.

Swimmers in Taunton will make a splash for charity during April as they complete the Swimathon 2010 challenge at Tone Leisure’s Taunton Pool helping to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation. Quayside is holding a Fitness Fiesta on Saturday 27th February from 2.00pm
Master Instructor Delores Douglas will be along as part of the afternoon's activities to lead the BodyPump session.

Tone Leisure’s Quayside Leisure Centre is launching Futsal in February.
The game of Futsal originated in South America, in the streets of Sao Paolo & Montevideo. Such stars as Denilson, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos grew up playing the sport and so the game has gained a reputation of promoting skill and close ball control.

Taunton players won three out of the four LTA junior rankings tournaments held on the indoor courts at Taunton Tennis Club in January. Players from Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Avon and South Wales took part.

Two new Play Days are planned in Taunton to take place on Wednesday 17th February.
10.30 - 12.30 at Celandine Mead Open Space, Taunton and
2-4pm at Wedlands Open Space, Taunton
There will be lots of activities on offer including sports, games, den building, woodlands arts and crafts. Activities are suitable for children over 8 years of age, but younger children are welcome if they are accompanied by their parent/ carer. These sessions are free of charge.
