What should I expect when joining the gym?
So your thinking of coming to the gym? Recently Jo Bloggs was in your position and heres what they did next:
What should I bring to my Fitness Class?
Your self and get ready for some fun, towel and water bottle are a must.
How do I join as a member?
Visit our membership section for more detail, pricing and to download an application form.
Do I need to join as a member to attend classes / the gym?
No you don't. For the Gym you can join as a casual member and simply pay every time you visit. For classes you can simply pay on the day, or by a booking card for a small fee to allow booking in advance or online.
Why do I need an induction, I've used gyms before?
By showing you how our equipment should be used properly you will get the most from your workout and minimise the risk of injury.
I have a medical condition. Am I still ok to use the gym?
Exercise is beneficial to the vast majority of people if begun slowly and built up gradually, but it is sensible to check with your GP first. Your GP may advise that you access the gym through the GP Referral scheme so that specialist qualified instructors will help you make sure you exercise appropriately and safely.
I've never exercised before. I'll look out of place in the gym, won't I?
Over 70% of all our customers are joining a gym for the first time. Everyone starts off slowly. Our Instructors will make you feel at ease, confident with the equipment and other customers. Staff are always happy to advise you, especially as you get used to the equipment.
I'm not technically minded and the equipment all looks complicated. Is it easy to use?
You won't believe how easy it is. And if you are unsure, there will be an instructor on hand to assist you. Most machines have a quick start button that allows you to use the machine without having to remember all of the settings.
What do I wear in the studio?
Make sure you wear comfortable clothing such as a T-shirt with shorts or jogging bottoms, and trainers. It is also a good idea to bring some water in a refillable, plastic container.
Will someone write me an exercise programme?
As part of the Results appointment programme, during one of your first appointments the instructors will write you an individual programme.
When are the busiest times in the gym?
Weekdays, around 5.00 - 8.00pm
I am pregnant and want to keep fit. Is it ok to use the gym?
If you are used to exercising and using the gym prior to becoming pregnant then it is usually fine to keep exercising but check with your midwife and GP. If you do not use the gym then it is best to check with your GP and alert the Instructor at your first appointment.
Do I need to bring any specialist equipment to any of the fitness classes?
All equipment such as mats, weights, bands, steps etc are provided.
If I arrive a bit late for a class can I still go in?
For your own safety you will not be permitted to enter if the instructor has already started as you will not have warmed up properly. It is also disruptive for other customers to have people coming in part way through a class.
