Ali Cottey, Tone Leisure Inclusive Play Officer, works with our Holiday Activity Leaders to provide inclusive opportunities for children and young people aged 5 - 12 years on our holiday camps which provide an exciting programme of sports and arts/craft activities and are registered on the Ofsted Voluntary Register. Parents/carers can contact Ali to share information about their child's needs.

Ali has been coordinating the Wild about Play days project for the past two years, which were funded by the Big Lottery and run in conjunction with Taunton Deane Borough Council. A Wild about Play day has been run across every ward in Taunton, a total of 36 play sessions. The project has enabled over 1000 children to attend a local play day, and participate in activities such as den building, sports, games, and woodland crafts. On the first Wednesday in August, we celebrated National Play Day, with Wild about Play sessions being held in Halcon and Pitminster.

For the past 3 years, we have run a Giant Play Day at Wellsprings Leisure Centre in July. This is an opportunity for children and their families to spend an afternoon together, trying out lots of new and different activities.

Tone Leisure have also been working closely with South Hams District Council, in providing a Play Ranger project which ran from Summer 2008 to June 2010 across the whole of the South Hams region. This was also funded by the Big Lottery, and has encouraged many children to take part in exciting outdoor activities in their local parks.

Further funding is being sought for play days and play rangers to continue these exciting outdoor play projects. Look out in our news section for the latest update.
